Jake Shambo
AKA ESylin

When I was three years old, my grandfather took me for my first flight in his Cessna 150 H. That was the beginning of my fascination with flight. From then on I could almost always be found playing with something involving flight, or electronics. In 1992, when I was eleven, my father bought a Sig Kadet Mark II for us to learn to fly with. He promptly crashed it. From there we started taking lessons and flying at a local club. We grew our skills together and enjoyed the hobby.
I took some time away from the RC industry to attend college. There I found that a friend, that was also into RC flight, had never flown. I quickly came back to flying and started flying a huge array of aircraft, from my modified Kadet Mark II to scale planes, and everything in between.
I had always wanted a helicopter, but never had the opportunity to get one. Then one day it happened, I got a "ready to fly" micro helicopter from a local hobby shop. I soon bought a larger helicopter and started to hover that around. My time for flying slid to the side again as I finished getting my degree in computer engineering, graduating in 2010 as the department honor student and receiving awards for digital design and documentation.
In 2010, I really dove head first into RC helicopters. I sold all my previous helicopters and radios and got myself all new equipment. I began flying every day, either at the field, indoor, or on the simulator.
I currently reside in Watertown New York, with my wife Cassandra and son Daniel (DJ). I work as a systems administrator for a local non-profit agency.
